Learn About Tonsillitis, Sinusitis, and Tinnitus

Tonsillitis is the inflammation of the tonsils, two oval-shaped pads of tissue at the back of the throat. It can cause sore throat and difficulty swallowing.

Most cases of tonsillitis are caused by viral infections, although bacterial infections can also be responsible. Treatment depends on the cause: If caused by bacteria, antibiotics will be prescribed If caused by a virus, antibiotics are not effective, but the body will fight the infection naturally

Sinusitis is the inflammation of the sinuses, which can cause nasal blockage and fluid buildup that may lead to infection. It is commonly caused by colds, allergies, nasal polyps, or a deviated septum.

Common treatments for sinusitis include:

  • Decongestants
  • Cold and allergy medications
  • Nasal saline irrigation
  • Antibiotics

Tinnitus is the perception of ringing or other noises in one or both ears. The sound is not caused by an external source but originates from internal ear issues.

Common causes of tinnitus include:

  • Hearing loss
  • Ear infections or blockages (fluid buildup, earwax, dirt, or foreign objects)
  • Head or neck injuries affecting the inner ear, auditory nerves, or brain function

Indeed, trials faced with patience bring benefit, as Allah SWT says:

وَلَنَبلُوَنَّكُم بِشَيءٍ مِّنَ الخَوفِ وَالجوعِ وَنَقصٍ مِّنَ الأَموٰلِ وَالأَنفُسِ وَالثَّمَرٰتِ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ الصّٰبِرينَ

Meaning: “And We will surely test you with a measure of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah: 155)
