Skin Health Care

Everyone desires beauty. Inner beauty comes from Allah SWT, while outer beauty comes from personality and appearance. At Hospital Islam Az-Zahrah, we aim to help you maintain healthy, radiant skin. Let’s take a closer look at three common skin conditions.

Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a skin condition that causes redness and itching. It is common in children but can occur at any age. Seek consultation with a skin specialist at HIAZ, as proper treatment and self-care can relieve itching and prevent flare-ups.

Causes of eczema include:

  1. Immune system: An overreaction to irritants or allergens can inflame the skin
  2. Genetics: Higher risk if there is a family history of skin conditions
  3. Environment: Exposure to tobacco smoke, air pollution, harsh soaps, fabrics like wool, and certain skincare products
  4. Stress levels: Stress can trigger or worsen eczema

Psoriasis is a skin condition that causes red, itchy, scaly patches. It commonly appears on the knees, elbows, chest, and scalp. It tends to occur in cycles—flaring for weeks or months before subsiding. Treatment is available at HIAZ to help manage psoriasis symptoms

Triggers of psoriasis include:

  1. Hormonal changes:Puberty, menopause, or pregnancy
  2. Stress:Increased likelihood of flare-ups during stress
  3. Medications:Certain drugs, such as those for high blood pressure
  4. Skin conditions: Injuries, infections, or excessive scratching
  5. obesityHigher risk, especially in skin folds

Acne is a common skin condition that is often overlooked but can be treated with medication. At HIAZ, our dermatologists can help manage and reduce acne.

Signs of acne vary depending on severity:

  • Whiteheads (closed clogged pores)
  • Blackheads (open clogged pores)
  • Small red, tender bumps
  • Pimples (pustules with pus at the tip)
  • Large, solid, painful lumps beneath the skin (nodules)
  • Painful, pus-filled lumps beneath the skin

Four main factors that cause acne:

  1. Excess oil (sebum) productionsebum) berlebihan
  2. Hair follicles clogged with oil and dead skin cells
  3. Bacteria
  4. Inflammation

Did You Know?

  • Eating chocolate or oily foods has little effect on acne
  • Acne is not caused by dirty skin; over-cleansing or using harsh products can worsen it
  • Cosmetics do not necessarily worsen acne, especially if you use oil-free products that do not clog pores and remove makeup regularly
